Seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and dynamic GNC Software Engineer to join our team at our headquarters in Louisville, Colorado (fully onsite) to support several new and exciting GNC software projects. The ideal candidate enjoys writing new GNC algorithms and is fervent on good software practices. They should be comfortable with Python and C++, but experience with and willingness to learn other languages is preferred (e.g., Julia). The candidate should have experience in orbit and attitude software simulations and common perturbation modeling. Experience or a theoretical basis in spacecraft formation flying would be a plus. This role also includes the opportunity to work on satellite mission planning, ADCS subsystem testing, and satellite data analysis. Because OSS is a smaller company, there is the opportunity to work on a diverse number of projects that match your interests at any given time. MS degree in Aerospace Engineering preferred.

Roles & Responsibilities

GNC Software Development (75%)

  • Assist in the development of new GNC algorithms to integrate with OSS's current GNC software framework
    • May include formation flying, controls, estimation, or guidance algorithms for both orbit and attitude.
  • Perform orbit, attitude, power, and overpass analyses utilizing OSS's current GNC software tool.
  • Design software to be modular, efficient, and elegant.
  • Write robust and sophisticated unit tests and be good at documentation.

ADCS Subsystem Testing (20%)

  • Assist in ADCS subsystem tests to support OSS satellite testing. Will include hardware and software tests of externally provided ADCS's and their sensors/actuators.

Business

Development (5%)

  • Assist in Business Development activities such as writing proposals and conceptual design in collaboration with industry partners.

Qualifications: Required

Education:

BS in Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field.

Experience:

2+ years (each higher-level degree may substitute for two years of experience)

Preferred

Education:

MS in Aerospace Engineering

Experience:

4+ years

Other:

Active security clearance or ability to obtain security clearance

Skills

Knowledge of orbit and attitude dynamics and the

space environment

Experienced in software development (Git preferred)

Software

experience with C/C++ and Python

Excellent technical writing ability

Excellent communication skills

Proficient with Microsoft Office software suite
