Job Description About the role:

Join Takeda as a Manufacturing Production Lead where you will manage 24/7 operations within Building 5 Teardown manufacturing. You will be an important partner for the Teardown of future projects. Some responsibilities include employee safety, meeting budget, quality and production goals, setting standards and making employment and staffing decisions.

You will provide essential leadership and support to accomplish the B5 6-million-liter strategic objective. You will report to the Head of Manufacturing, Fractionation and Manufacturing Support for the Los Angeles site. You will partner with partners/support leaders in the Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing departments to improve plans consistent with Site Plan/GMS/GQ supply value proposition.

How you will contribute:
  • Ensure adherence to all environmental, health and safety procedures and promote a positive safety-first culture.
  • Ensure the Teardown department meets cycle time and production goals on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis per budget and MPS.
  • Support ramp up, commissioning and licensure of the Teardown of the Future area.
  • Collaborate and solicit support to avoid equipment issues and other obstacles which may affect production goals.
  • Deliver quality products to customers timely.
  • Is a good manager of self and production staff that may include manufacturing supervisors and technicians.
  • Partner with support groups to improve safety, quality to meet department goals
  • Meet production requirements including fulfillment and yield targets.
  • Assist department leadership with creation and meeting the annual operating plan and budget commitments.
  • Oversee daily manufacturing operations across a department or multiple departments.
  • Ensure staff training is appropriate to perform tasks with highest level of safety, quality and compliance.
  • Provide overall coaching, training and succession plans for their team through Quality Conversations.
  • Accountable for staff performance including resolution of disciplinary issues up to and including suspensions and terminations.
  • Champion continuous improvement (AGILE 4.0) culture and lead implementation of tools, including leading Tier visual management meetings.
  • Represent department in providing leadership in meetings, audits and projects.
  • Promote employee engagement, development and hiring.
  • Work with Fractionation Associate Directors and interfaces to fill in for other Associate Directors of manufacturing.
  • Lead and drive the necessary process, systems and mindset change for the success of the Teardown of the Future project
  • Manage multiple activities through your team and exercise full supervision regarding cost, methods, and employees.
  • Will interpret and analyze statistical data/information including financial reports.
  • Understand and resolve technical problems and interface with engineering/technical experts to resolve
  • Will perform investigations and communicate through well written documentation
  • Knowledge of world-class manufacturing methods (QLP, Lean, Six Sigma), Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Drug and Administration regulations.
  • Will have leadership skills with the ability to partner well with personnel at all levels.
  • May manage multiple groups and shifts.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Typically requires bachelor's degree in science, engineering or other related technical field. 8+ years of related experience with 3+ in a management role.
  • You will have a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions in the facility.
  • Work multiple shifts, including weekends.
  • Some Clean Room and cool/hot storage conditions.

Important Considerations:

At Takeda, our patients rely on us to create quality products and we aim to create a safe environment for our team members. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product or putting anyone at the site in harm's way. You may:

  • Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.
  • Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
  • Work in a cold, wet environment.
  • Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours,.
  • Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.
