Description

Rehab Techs work with Goodwills physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists to understand a participants needs, then they help the participant do the work (such as climbing stairs) in a one-on-one setting. Rehab Techs also help participants re-learn life skills, like personal hygiene and cooking.

Job Summary

1) Under the supervision of a qualified licensed therapist, works with individuals with acquired brain injuries using various educational and rehabilitation activities to help them regain the skills they need to live more independently

  • Conducts individual and group therapy sessions.

  • Coordinates activities designed to help service recipients develop or regain functioning or adjust to disabilities.

  • Follows through on individualized person-centered therapeutic rehabilitation programs to help overcome barriers in areas that may include activities of daily living, mobility, cognition, communication, psycho-social adjustment, leisure education, pre-vocational and vocational training, and community integration.

    2) Represents the Agency in all interactions with other members of the Goodwill community and with the general public, supporting the agency Vision of creating sustainable communities that thrive through the fullest participation of their diverse residents.

    3) Furthers the organizational commitment to triple bottom line results: integrating social, economic and environmental goals into thinking, planning and actions.

    Essential Functions

    Communication:

  • Conducts individual and group therapy sessions.

  • Coordinates activities designed to help service recipients develop or regain functioning or adjust to disabilities.

  • Confers with Clinical Director and Program Coordinator individually and in team meetings, to exchange, discuss, and evaluate service recipient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment plan.

  • Coordinates services and presents information on rehabilitation therapy programs to internal and external professionals, service providers and community organizations. Presents information on rehabilitation therapy. programs to internal and external professionals and interested groups; may participate in research projects.

    Knowledge:

  • Follows through on individualized person-centered therapeutic rehabilitation programs to help overcome barriers in areas that may include activities of daily living, mobility, cognition, communication, psychosocial adjustment, leisure education, prevocational and vocational training, and community integration.

  • Seeks opportunities to develop skills, knowledge, and programming. Keeps abreast of current developments in field to update job skills and knowledge.

  • Maintains all necessary certifications and meets ongoing training requirements.

    Administration:

  • Designs and constructs special materials and equipment for service recipients as needed and suggests adaptation of individuals work-living environment in collaboration with other team members.

  • Actively participates in treatment planning process with service recipient and team.

  • Produces accurate and timely clinical, billing, administrative and other documentation as required.

    Financial:

  • Achieves the billable hours as specified in the target.

    Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Valid drivers license in the state where employed with a satisfactory driving record.

  • Reliable transportation and automobile insurance that meets minimum state requirements.

  • Criminal Record that satisfies Goodwill NNE criteria for this job.
